I really wanted to love this because I am a big fan of the Acwell Licorice Toner so I was so excited to get a chance to try the serum. I have very sensitive skin that is normal/dry but I do suffer from redness and occasional acne. In the winter my skin gets very dry even though I live in an area where it doesn’t snow and the temperature is 60’s and 70’s in the winter.First impression the serum doesn’t have the same nice smell as their toner. This actually smells nothing at all like it. Second it is very sticky.Here is my regular skincare routine:I wash with Skinesque enzyme cleansing powderTone with Klairs Supple Preparation Toner (only because I ran out of my Acwell Licorice Toner)follow up with Neogen Dermology Real Ferment Micro EssenceBoscia Green tea moisturizerI tried the serum after my essence but it stayed very sticky which could be a sign that it’s not absorbing into your skin. I tried it again the next night after my toner like the instructions say to do but it still stayed very sticky even 30 minutes later. I used it very sparingly thinking maybe I just used too much the first time but it still stayed sticky. I rubbed some on my hand with just bare skin no toner and the same results. It feels heavy and sticky on my skin and I’m just not a fan of it. There are other serums out there that I’ve tried and like much better.The only good thing I have to say is that when I woke up in the morning my skin had a “plump” feeling as far as moisture goes but not good enough for me to want to buy this.

ACWELL is one of those OG K-Beauty brands (like Benton and Isntree) that made it onto everyone’s “Best Of” lists a couple of years ago. With the continued explosion in new brands I haven’t heard much about them recently but I’ve always been curious to try their stuff. This lightweight serum contains licorice often used in eye creams for its ability to lighten/brighten the skin. It has a thin jelly-like consistency that melts into the skin leaving behind a slightly sticky shiny coating. I find it works best under a thicker moisturizer rather than as a single (or final) layer. It feels both comforting and hydrating. And while there’s no added fragrance or essential oils it does have a mild herbal aroma that smells both natural and pleasant.I’ve been using prescription strength tretinoin for over a month now and need to be careful what products I use on my sensitized skin and this has worked into my routine seamlessly. After using it as part of my nighttime routine for two weeks I can’t say I’ve noticed any brightening effect but it works great at keeping my irritated skin hydrated [layered under a more occlusive night cream] during these cold dry winter months.

This is an ok serum but nothing special. I got it to help reduce the hormonal acne that I have as well as to help fade some acne scars. It did help my acne breakouts a bit but it did nothing to fade the acne scars. I’ve got dry skin and really need help getting it moisturized. From the list of ingredients it looked like this would work perfectly. Unfortunately the hydration is average and doesn’t hydrate my skin enough. I’m sure if you don’t have dry skin this would be ok for you. After using it for a month I’m not impressed and haven’t seen any improvement in my fine lines. One thing to be aware of when applying is to use just a little at a time. If you use too much it’ll leave your face feeling sticky and will take a long time to dry. This isn’t a product that I’d continue to use or purchase again.
