Japanese striker flourishes in the Netherlands Ayase Ueda

Japanese Striker Ayase Ueda impressed for Feyenoord in the Dutch national championship.

On October 5, Ueda scored a double to help Feyenoord win 3-2 against Utrecht in round 8 of the Dutch national championship, thereby continuing to firmly hold the top spot.

These are also Ueda’s 7th and 8th goals for Feyenoord in the domestic league this season, helping him lead the race for the Golden Boot. The Japanese international is 3 goals ahead of the two players behind him, Wout Weghorst (Ajax) and Brynjolfur Darri Willumsson (Groningen).

Ueda also made history by becoming the third player to score 8 goals in the first 8 matches of the new season for Feyenoord in the past 20 years, after Graziano Pelle and Santiago Gimenez.

Under the guidance of Robin van Persie, a famous striker who played for Arsenal and MU, Ueda showed his outstanding scoring ability at Feyenoord. With 8 goals, he is only 1 goal away from equaling his scoring record in the entire 2024/25 season (9 goals) in all competitions.

In 2023, Ueda joined Feyenoord for a fee of 8 million euros. After more than two years playing for the Dutch club, the Japanese international gradually found a solid foothold and became a mainstay of the team.

With an impressive scoring performance, Ueda is proving himself to be one of the most watchable strikers in the Dutch and European leagues at the moment.
